Speaker/Program Guidelines

 Thank you for your interest in addressing our Rotary club.  For the most well-received presentation please review the following information.  Should you have questions or need further information please contact Keith Sorem Keith@BeautifulVerdugoHomes.com or Matt Gerlach 818-688-1978

  I.        Timing

          A.  The typical schedule is  doors open at 7:00am, opening at 7:10am, club business from 7:30am to 8:00am, program 8:00am to 8:25am, closing from 8:25am to 8:30pm

          B.   If you need to coordinate audio visual, Power Point, etc. please arrive by 7:00am so you have adequate time to complete your preparations prior to the opening of the meeting.

          C.   If there is interest and you have time additional discussion may continue after the conclusion of the meeting.

 

II.       Content

          A.  Speakers are selected based on specific program critieria.  Our goal is to provide club members with interesting, thought-provoking, and entertaining programs.  You are encouraged to discuss the key points of your program with  a member of the program committee if you have concerns about the appropriate nature.

          B.   There is a LCD projector and screen available by prior arrangement.

          C.   A hand-held microphone is also usually available.

          D.   If you are providing hand outs 40 to 50 copies should be sufficient.  They can be placed on the dining tables before the meeting.

 

III.      Promotion and Solicitation

          A.   Direct solicitation to members for funds is contrary to the spirit of Rotary and is not permitted.

          B.   Promotion of specific products, companies, or services is also not permitted.  Programs are to be educational and provide objective, factual, and unbiased, as well as accurate information.  This includes offering the members discounts to purchase services.

  IV.      Support

          A.  Education for our members is an essential part of our purpose and we very much appreciate high quality presentations.

          B.  Please provide brief introduction of your background, as well as a summary of your topic and key points that our members will find of interest.  We will post this information in advance  so we can promote your address to our club and allow club members to invite guests who may also find your presentation of interest.
