  1. Announcements
  • Invitations to the Wine Tasting Fundraiser on September 14 were placed on the tables. The cost is $50 and the event is open to all people.
  • Zaven Kazazian recently had knee surgery. The club was encouraged to send Zaven a text message wishing him well.
  • Richard Diradourian was welcomed back to the club after his surgery.
  • August 26 is the Rotary District Picnic.
    • The Club needs volunteers to help paint the boat, called "Ship happens".
    • Eric Hamilton to release details later about the painting party.
  • October 5 is the Glendale State of the Schools Address. Volunteers are needed to help run the event.
    • Volunteers will need to be at the venue by 6:15am. A sign up sheet and further details will be sent on a later date.
  • Anita Wallace shared photos of her recent trip to the orphanage, Estado 29.
    • All are encouraged to go in the future.
  • Jay Saltzman, our district governor, announced the PRLS program.
    • Program meant to teach leadership and public speaking skills for Rotarians
    • To be held on September 9 from 8-11am in Northridge
  1. The Sergeant-At-Arms, Jeanett Cordon, oversaw the collection of fines and acknowledgements
     
  2. Sharon Townsend introduced the speaker, Glendale Police Chief Officer Robert Castro
  • Talked about the successes and problems facing the Glendale Police department
    • Continued cooperation with the Glendale Fire Department
    • 40 officers are now officially licensed Emergency Medical Technicians.
    • The Creation of a Homeless Outreach Team
    • Cooperation with Federal departments such as ICE
    • Increase of violent crimes and assaults against police officers in the past 3 years.
  • Mentioned the effects of California Propositions 47 and 57
  1. Sergeant-at-Arms Jeanett Cordon oversaw the opportunity drawings
     
  2. President Elect Peggy Smith adjourned the meeting
