  1. Foodstuffs for the Glendale Community College Food drive were gathered
     
  2. The Meeting was called to order by President Nina Crowe

  1. Announcements
  • Zaven Kazazian announced Zainul Abedin's entry in the Paul Harris Society
  • Nina Crowe presented a $500 check to Lt. Jennifer Shiftlett of the Salvation Army
    • Funds go to the Glendale Salvation Army
    • Jennifer Shiftlett encouraged the club to attend the LA Donut Festival on October 7
  • Nina Crowe announced to the club that the club is officially a Duck Buddy sponsor for the Kiwanis Fundraiser.
    • 50% of all funds raised will come back to Glendale Sunrise Rotary
  • Tri Fritz reminded the club to sign up for roles in future meetings
  • Rick Dinger encouraged members to sign up for the Rotary Fellowship event on October 14
    • Members will root on the Glendale Vaqueros from a Skybox and the event will be catered by Dinah's Chicken
    • Cost is $20
    • Rick will be opening up signups to the rest of the public next week
  • Eric Hamilton urged members to volunteer for the Glendale Education Foundation Breakfast on October 10.
    • Breakfast will be provided for all volunteers
  • Zaven Kazazian announced the Firefighter's Luncheon Awards, sponsored by the Rotary Club, on October 17
    • 11:30 at the Glendale Hilton
  • Anita Wallace thanked the club for bringing in food for the food drive.
  • Nina Crowe called for a nomination and a vote for potential candidates to be on the nominating committee.
    • Yvette Davis was elected as the final committee member
  1. Jeanett Cordon oversaw the fines and acknowledgements
     
  2. Anita Wallace introduced Charise Charleswell, representing the organization Journey Out
  • The organization focuses on the relief and aid of human trafficking and its victims, particularly over the age of 18
  • The organization helps victims through
    • furthering education
    • accompanying them to trials
    • acquiring mental health services
    • rescue operations
  • The organization also conducts preventative training and awareness programs
  1. Nina Crowe presented Charise Charleswell with a thank you gift from the club
     
  2. Ken Riedel conducted the opportunity drawings
     
  3. Nina Crowe adjourned the meeting
